Macdonald Hotels & Resorts launches Jennifer Young spa treatments

Macdonald Hotels & Resorts has become the first hotel group in the UK to offer Jennifer Young spa treatments for people living with and beyond cancer.

It has teamed up with specialist skincare company Jennifer Young – Beauty Despite Cancer, to offer spa treatments and specialist products for people living with and beyond cancer, and provide training for its in-house beauty therapists and front-of-house staff.

The treatments have just been launched at the group’s luxurious four-star spas at Macdonald Inchyra Hotel & Spa near Stirling, Macdonald Berystede Hotel & Spa in Ascot, and Macdonald Manchester Hotel and will be rolled out across the other 17 spas situated across the UK throughout 2019.

“We are very proud to be the first hotel group in the UK to be able to offer Jennifer Young spa treatments for those affected by cancer,” says Macdonald Spa Director Emma Leadbeater.

“The decision to launch this range of products and treatments was driven by the demand from those living with cancer who are frequently unable to pamper themselves with conventional spa and beauty treatments due to sensitive skin and nails, a common consequence of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.”

Jennifer Young used her scientific background, as well as extensive research with cancer specialists and patients to develop a variety of products designed to mitigate and ease the harsh effects that both chemotherapy and radiotherapy can have on the body, skin, nails and lips.

A number of treatments and product ranges will be available across the Macdonald Spa Collection. The ‘Defiant Beauty’ range is specially formulated for those living with cancer and addresses the side effects cancer treatments can have on skin, body and nails.

The ‘Beyond Beauty’ range is formulated for use after cancer treatment and is designed for those who have been through chemotherapy or radiotherapy. All products contain a blend of ingredients and essential oils that are gentle on sensitive skin as well as having anti-ageing benefits.

“It’s so often the case that those living with and beyond cancer are denied the chance to feel good and relax, but by working with Macdonald Hotels & Resorts we are offering more people the chance to get a sense of normality amidst what can be a challenging time,” says Jennifer.

“Cancer and its side effects come in many different forms and the beauty of these products is that they are adapted by the accredited, highly trained staff to suit each guest’s need, leaving them feeling good and a bit more like their usual self.”

As part of the collaboration with Jennifer Young and Satya Life, the exclusive distributors of the specialist range, Macdonald Hotels & Resorts will be supporting Ellie’s Friends, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of adults affected by cancer in the UK.

To mark the launch of the specialist range, Macdonald Hotels & Resorts will be collaborating with Ellie’s Friend to give away five free spa days in each of the three hotels in which the collection has already launched.

“We know how beneficial a massage or facial can be and we didn’t want anyone who is affected by cancer to be denied that feeling of deep relaxation and self-care that a visit to a spa can provide,” adds Emma.

Macdonald Hotels Spa Collection covers 20 locations across the UK and the Jennifer Young – Beauty Despite Cancer range will be available in each location by the end of 2019, including Macdonald Forest Hills Hotel & Spa in Aberfoyle and Macdonald Marine Hotel & Spa in North Berwick.
