Don’t miss: Cupar Wellbeing Fayre & Family Fun Day

Why not get along to Cupar’s first Wellbeing Fayre & Family Fun Day this Saturday (19 October) to find out more about local services which support mental health?

You’re invited to visit the free event between 10am and 4pm in the town’s Corn Exchange which will also help to raise money for SAMH (the Scottish Association for Mental Health).

The event, which follows World Mental Health Day on 10 October, is being organised by Enlighten, Cupar – a new community hub on the Bonnygate which offers mentoring, health and wellness workshops, and free health magazines and information, as well as space to hire.

It will play host to more than 30 stallholders specialising in all aspects of healthy living, from nutrition and mindfulness to natural skincare and eco-friendly household products.

There will also be a full programme of talks, workshops and holistic therapy tasters, with Positive Change Yoga’s sound journeys taking centre stage as the main sponsor.

The sound journeys, which are the first of their kind in Scotland, are said to help lower blood pressure and manage chronic pain by combining state-of-the-art silent disco technology with binaural beats.

There will various sessions available throughout the day, each offering 45 minutes of relaxation and anxiety and stress reduction.

Enlighten founder Alvina Menzies, who is organising the event, said: “I’m delighted to be bringing this event to Cupar. With around 1 in 4 people experiencing some form of mental health problem every year, self-care has never been more important.

“We’re hoping to showcase what’s available to people locally to help them boost their own mental health and physical wellbeing.”

The event will be family friendly, with lots of kids’ activities, such as face painting, crafts and a Lego table, taking place on the day.

The first 50 visitors will also receive a free goodie bag containing samples, exclusive discount vouchers and the latest copy of Holistic Scotland Magazine, which is produced in Fife.
