Strathy ward in Migdale Hospital, Bonar Bridge has reopened to admissions following a period of closure.
The ward, which houses the Older Adult Mental Health Assessment Unit, was closed in November due to both vacancies and sick leave affecting staffing numbers.
Registered mental health nurse cover has now been put in place allowing the unit to open six beds as of this week (13 January).
Lorraine Coe, District Manager for NHS Highland, said: “I am delighted that we now have the cover in place to allow us to open these six beds in the Strathy ward. We will continue to closely monitor and review the situation but we are delighted that we have been able to admit patients to the ward again.
“I would like to thank our patients and their families for their understanding during this time and to the team on Strathy for their understanding and support.”
