Weekends in Kinghorn have just gotten more exciting thanks to the addition of The Nest Café at The Ecology Centre
The Ecology Centre’s new Nest Cafe, which opened on Saturday, 19 June, will be serving drinks and home baking every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from now on, between 10am and 3pm.
Led by café supervisor Stuart Gilmour (pictured above), the Nest Cafe will be supported by a new team of cafe volunteers, which very much fits with the social enterprise ethos of the Centre, which was named a Silver finalist in the Good Health Magazine Wellbeing Awards 2021.
Any income generated goes back into supporting the continued running of the Centre and its volunteering and outdoor learning programmes.
Stuart said: “I can’t wait to get the Nest Cafe open and welcome you back to The Ecology Centre.
“We’ve got a cracking menu lined up and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to the loch. It’s a great location and perfect for people in Kinghorn and the surrounding area to come and enjoy a cuppa and cake.”
Stuart, who has more than 30 years’ catering experience under his belt, is local to Kinghorn and has also been a volunteer at the Centre’s Community Garden.
The Nest will, of course, be taking part in Kinghorn’s Totally Locally Fiverfest! You can also pick up the latest copy of Good Health Magazine for free at the Centre.
About The Ecology Centre
The Ecology Centre is an inclusive, community-led charity, based in Kinghorn on the banks of Kinghorn Loch.
The Centre inspires positive change through directly connecting people and the natural environment for the benefit of both. It’s a simple premise, but one that has been changing and influencing lives for more than 20 years.
Today, the community-owned site is a haven for wildlife, plants and those that love them.
Welcoming more than 5,000 visitors annually through its education and events programme, the Centre also provides volunteering opportunities across its site, garden and Tool Shed.
