13 very good reasons not to delay your smear test

Women across the UK have been delaying their cervical screenings due to Covid-19, a new study has found

Online Doctor conducted a survey across 1,000 UK women to find out if Covid restrictions had impacted or delayed booking their smear test. 

  • 37% of women aged 25-34 said yes along with 43% of those aged 35-44 

1 in 142 UK females will be diagnosed with cervical cancer in their lifetime. 99.8% of cervical cancer cases in the UK are preventable if caught early enough by routine cervical screenings. 

There are more than 100 different strains of HPV and around 40 directly affect the genitals.

However, only around 13 of these strains are considered high-risk for cancer, some strains can cause genital warts but the rest should be cleared by your body without causing complications.
